Even before Alsido Calzature we were three sisters: Alessandra, Simona and Donatella Monterisi. The origins of the name Alsido are taken directly from the first letters of our names that our father, Gianni, wanted to associate with what was, at the beginning, only a small family-run business. But, to be honest, the real story starts even before that: with our grandparents. What is today a consolidated wholesale shoe vendors with headquarters in Bologna, infact started back in the early nineteen-fifties as a traditional shoemaker’s workshop producing all hand-made shoes in the old town centre of Trani, in Puglia. They were hard times, when necessity took priority over wellbeing. And yet our grandfathers knew how to assert themselves as capable craftsmen and trustworthy people, that it was possible to go to in the full knowledge that what you were getting was a well-made product because it was carefully crafted right down to the last detail. Indeed, from their expert hands came shoes of every type, that they lovingly created with great patience and experience made to measure shoes for their customers. And it was thanks to their tenacity and their ability that the small workshop managed to survive the post-war period and for over another thirty years following that and supported the family economy of the Monterisi family, dressing the feet of their many fellow citizens.
From the nineteen-eighties onwards, Gianni – thanks to a strong practical and business sense – has never stopped following the business that he gave a new identity and a new structure to. From Trani, Alsido Calzature moved to the North of Italy, becoming a real wholsale shoe business in Bologna. And it is from here, from the centre for excellence of international wholesale trade, that we also started our journey through Alsido Calzature, inheriting from our father the same passion and professionality that he has always had. Still today, Gianni guides us and gives us advice in managing the company, with that voice of experience that comes from many years of working in this field and has been passed down from generation to generation, from our grandfathers down to us.
There is one thing that we all have in common, we three sisters. None of us could manage without being totally personally involved in the work, in all of its phases. We are the ones who choose the footwear which best represents our standards of quality, responding to the needs of those who come to us. And it’s always us, all day for 5 days – sometimes – seven days – a week, serving those who contact us, both online and offline Only in this way can we be sure to understand the latest trends and the demand of the market immediately, staying constantly up-to-date on the evolutions of fast fashion and customer tastes.
